She asks them if they are having an ugly sweater party, but it turns out that her parents were just wearing their normal Christmas sweaters. Then, her father retorts by asking if she is having a burnt cookie party. Her mom, on the other hand, jokes that their daughter is instead having a messy kitchen party.

She is pleased that he remembered, but when he holds up a plant and tells her it's her gift, she points out that it's half-dead. Their playful dynamic shows as he quickly responds, "Just like you." Waldorf teases that if anyone knows old and obsolete, it's him, and they both crack up at the joke... at least, until the Statler suddenly recognizes the jab for what it is.
