Lee Israel has fallen on hard times as a writer. Her books are not selling the way they use to and her bills are piling up. To make ends meet, Israel begins to forge letters of famous authors and sells them to collectors. However, the collectors begin to question the authenticity of the letters and Israel begins to see legal ramifications of her actions.
