Michaela DePrince is a ballerina from West Africa who overcame traumatic circumstances to get to where she is today. She lost her parents at a young age and faced violence and discrimination as she moved from an orphanage to a refugee camp before finally getting adopted. She says that dancing gave her the hope and strength to survive.
