Microsoft TV Commercial, 'International Women's Day 2016: What Will You Make?'
When young girls are asked to name any inventors they can think of, they begin listing off men like Benjamin Franklin, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell. However, when they are asked to name any women inventors they can think of, they are left stumped. In honor of International Women's Day, Microsoft reminds us that not everything is "man" made. In fact, there are countless significant women inventors: Tabitha Babbitt, Martha Coston, Mary Anderson, Maria Beasley, Patricia Bath and many, many more. Having learned about women inventors' accomplishments, the young girls are inspired. As part of its "Make What's Next" campaign, Microsoft is celebrating all things woman made and asking girls everywhere one question: What are you going to make?
